Small batches, filled in order of application

OFI runs in batch cycles rather than open rolling classes, because small groups are the entire point of how we teach. Each batch has a fixed number of seats — enough machines, enough camera time, enough instructor attention for everyone — and when a batch fills, admissions close until the next cycle.

Seats are confirmed in the order applications are completed, which is why applying early matters more here than at most institutes. Popular batches, especially those aligned with the wedding season, routinely fill before their start date.

When you inquire, we will tell you honestly how many seats remain in the batch you want and when the following batch begins, so you can plan without guessing.

If you can commit the hours, you qualify

There is no film background required, no entrance exam, and no portfolio needed to join. Our beginner courses assume exactly zero prior knowledge — students range from school leavers to working professionals changing careers to videographers formalising skills they taught themselves.

What we do ask for is commitment: consistent attendance, practice hours outside class, and the willingness to take critique and redo work until it is right. Every skill we teach responds directly to hours invested, and the students who commit the hours are the ones whose showreels shock people at graduation.

Basic computer comfort helps for editing courses, and for photography or cinematography a camera of your own is useful but not required to begin — institute equipment covers classwork.

Course fees are set in Nepali rupees for the Nepali market, with the exact amount depending on the course and duration — contact us or visit for the current fee sheet, and we will also explain any instalment arrangements available for your batch.

When comparing institutes, compare what the fee actually buys: batch size, machine time per student, camera time per student, instructor experience, real project work, and what graduates are doing today. A cheaper course that leaves you unemployable is the most expensive thing you can buy.

From application to your first class, step by step

Once you submit an application, our admissions team contacts you — usually within a day — to confirm details, answer questions and, if you like, schedule a campus visit or counselling call. This conversation is two-way: we want to be sure the course you chose actually fits your goal.

Your seat is confirmed on completion of admission formalities and the fee (or first instalment). You will then receive your batch schedule, class timings, and a simple preparation note so you arrive on day one ready to work.

On your first day you get your workstation, meet your batch and instructor, and start on real footage within the first sessions — because the fastest way to learn film is to begin making some.
