The craft

Where graphics come to life.

Motion graphics is design in motion — the animated titles, logo reveals, lower-thirds, kinetic text and explainer animations that give a video its polish and personality. It’s the difference between a plain cut and content that looks like a brand spent money on it. Every slick ad, every clean YouTube intro, every animated logo you’ve admired was built by someone who knows this craft.

It sits right between design and film — part graphic design, part animation, part editing. You think in shapes, type and timing, and you make still elements move with weight and intention so they feel alive instead of stuck on top of the footage.

In Nepal, demand for it is climbing fast. Agencies, brands, YouTubers and production houses all want motion now, and the people who can deliver clean, professional graphics are still few — which makes the skill genuinely valuable. As more of the country’s business moves to video and social, motion has quietly become one of the most requested skills on any creative team, and one of the hardest to hire for.

What you’ll learn

From first keyframe to finished animation.

You’ll learn After Effects properly — not a few tricks, but the real workflow — building animations on real briefs.

01 Keyframes & motion

The foundation — keyframes, easing and timing — so your movement feels smooth and deliberate, never robotic or stuck on.

02 Titles & kinetic type

Animated titles, lower-thirds and kinetic typography that match a brand and read cleanly on any screen.

03 Logo & shape animation

Bringing a logo to life and animating shapes and graphics — the work clients ask for most and pay well for.

04 Compositing & effects

Layering, masking, tracking and clean effects to blend graphics into footage so they sit in the shot, not on top of it.

05 Working with the edit

Moving between After Effects and Premiere Pro with Dynamic Link, so your graphics drop straight into the edit.

06 Render & deliver

Exporting clean, correctly-formatted graphics — with alpha where needed — ready to hand to an editor or a client.

OFI
Your toolkit

Built in After Effects.

You’ll work primarily in Adobe After Effects, the industry standard for motion graphics and the tool Nepal’s agencies and studios expect you to know. You’ll learn how it connects to the rest of a real pipeline — Dynamic Link into Premiere Pro, where your graphics meet the cut, and how the Fusion page in DaVinci Resolve handles similar work. The goal is a clean workflow from design to delivery, not a pile of disconnected tricks.

You’ll also build the design instincts underneath the software — type, colour, spacing and restraint — because the best motion graphics aren’t the busiest, they’re the most intentional. Software is the easy part to teach; taste is what we train alongside it.

OFI
Real briefs, real work

Animated on real briefs.

You don’t learn motion graphics by following along with a tutorial that always works. You learn it by solving real briefs — a brand wants a logo sting, a YouTuber needs an intro, an ad needs animated text on a deadline — with all the messy decisions that come with them.

A mentor who does this work sits with you, showing you why your animation feels stiff, where your timing is off, how to make a move land. You’ll build real pieces, get real feedback, and learn the speed and polish that paid work demands.

You finish with a motion reel — titles, logo animations and graphics you actually built — the one thing that convinces an agency or client you can do the job.

You’ll also learn to work the way studios actually work: keeping a project tidy so a revision doesn’t take all night, naming and organising layers and compositions, reusing what you build, and taking client feedback without starting over each time. Those habits are what let you deliver fast and keep clients coming back — and they’re rarely taught alongside the software.

Careers in Nepal

Where motion takes you.

Motion graphics is one of the fastest-growing creative skills in Nepal, and trained people are scarce. With it you can:

  • Work at an ad agency or studio as a motion designer on brand and ad campaigns
  • Animate for YouTubers and creators — intros, titles and graphics, a huge freelance market
  • Add motion to your editing — an editor who animates is far more valuable and better paid
  • Create branded content for companies, startups and social media
  • Build explainer and corporate videos for businesses, NGOs and INGOs
  • Freelance independently, taking on motion projects at professional rates

Because so few people in Nepal animate well, “motion designer” is one of the most future-proof lines you can add to your skills.

OFI
Who it’s for

For editors and designers who want movement.

This course suits anyone who wants their work to move. Editors come to add motion graphics to their skill set — the basics are already part of our video editing package, and this is the full, deep version. Graphic designers come to make their static work animate. Content creators come to build their own intros and graphics instead of paying for them. And complete beginners with a feel for design come because motion rewards a good eye and patient hands. You don’t need to be an artist or a coder — you need timing, taste, and the willingness to refine.

Why OFI

Push buttons, or think like a designer.

Most motion-graphics teaching is copy-this-tutorial. We teach the why — timing, weight and taste — so you can make your own work, not just repeat someone else’s.

01 Small classes

Your mentor reviews your actual animation, frame by frame, and shows you exactly what makes a move land or fall flat.

02 Real briefs from the start

You animate real briefs, not exercises — and finish with a motion reel you can actually show.

03 Working mentors

People who animate for agencies and clients for a living, teaching the speed and polish real deadlines demand.

04 Genuine job support

Top graduates get placed into real motion work; committed students get referred to studios that need animators.

The same philosophy runs through everything we do — read more about OFI and our other courses.

Questions

Good to know.

Isn’t motion graphics already in the video editing course?

The basics are — our video editing package introduces motion graphics so you can build simple titles and graphics. This is the full course that takes you to a professional, hireable level.

How long is the full course and what does it cost?

The full Motion Graphics course is Rs. 50,000, running over 2 months at 1 hour a day. Contact us for current intake dates and the latest pricing.

Do I need editing experience first?

It helps, but isn’t required. If you’re new to post-production, our video editing course is a strong place to start before going deep on motion.

Which software will I learn?

Adobe After Effects, the industry standard, plus how it links into Premiere Pro so your graphics flow straight into a real edit.

Do I need to be good at drawing?

No. Motion graphics is about timing, type and design sense more than illustration. If you have an eye for what looks clean, you can do this.

Is there work for motion designers in Nepal?

Yes, and it’s growing fast. Agencies, brands and creators all need motion now, and trained animators are scarce — which keeps demand and rates strong.

The craft

After Effects, taught project by project

Motion graphics at OFI is built around Adobe After Effects, taught the same way everything here is taught — through finished pieces, not isolated lessons. Keyframes and the graph editor, shape layers, masks and mattes, precomposing, expressions basics, text animation and 3D layers all arrive inside real briefs: a logo animation, a title sequence, an explainer, a set of social-media graphics.

Animation principles get equal weight to software. Easing, anticipation, follow-through, timing and rhythm are what make motion feel professional, and we drill them until your work stops looking like a template and starts looking designed.

You will also learn the pipeline around After Effects — how projects come in from Premiere and Illustrator and how finished animation is rendered and delivered — so you fit cleanly into any studio’s workflow.

Where mograph lives

Every screen you look at is a client

Motion graphics is quietly everywhere: the animated logo before a video, the lower-thirds on the news, the kinetic text in an ad, the explainer a startup uses to raise money, the subtitles-with-style on every viral reel. Businesses in Nepal are producing more video than ever, and nearly all of it needs motion design.

Agencies and production houses in Kathmandu hire motion designers directly, and the international remote market is even larger — explainer studios, YouTube channels and marketing teams abroad constantly outsource animation work.

Because far fewer people study motion design than editing, the field is less crowded. A strong reel here stands out fast.

OFI
Your reel

Ten seconds that do all the talking

Motion design is hired almost entirely from the reel, so building yours is a formal part of the course. Every project you finish is refined to portfolio standard, and in the final weeks we help you cut them into a tight, rhythmic showreel with sound design — the ten to forty seconds that will do more for your career than any document.

You will learn to present work the way studios expect: clean renders, a simple portfolio page, and process breakdowns that show you understand what you made.

Graduates leave with a reel, source projects they can discuss in interviews, and the confidence of having survived real deadlines — which every studio quietly tests for.
